Hello there! I'm Mo'Nique, a 48-year-old mom embarking on an exciting (and slightly terrifying) new adventure - the empty nest phase. 🐣➡️🕊️
After years of packed schedules, endless carpools, and a house full of teenage energy, I find myself standing at the threshold of a new chapter. My youngest just left for college, leaving behind a quiet house and a mom ready to rediscover herself.
From Mom-of-All-Trades to... Well, We'll See!
For the past two decades, my life has revolved around being a mom, a career woman, and occasionally remembering I'm also an individual with her own dreams. I've juggled board meetings and bake sales, client calls and football practices. But now? The game has changed, and I'm both thrilled and nervous about what lies ahead.
"The empty nest is not a loss. It's an opportunity." - Unknown
This quote has become my mantra as I navigate this transition. Yes, I miss the constant buzz of activity and the impromptu family dinners. But I'm also excited about the possibilities that await.
What's Next on This Empty Nester's Agenda?
Rediscovering My Passions and Myself: Remember that dusty easel in the attic? It's coming down! I'm rekindling my love for painting and who knows, maybe I'll finally open that Etsy shop I've been dreaming about.
Staying Connected: Just because the kids have flown the coop doesn't mean family time is over. I'm planning weekly video calls and surprise care packages. Who says you can't embarrass your kids from afar? 😉
Embracing New Adventures: Travel has always been on the back burner, but not anymore! First stop: that cooking class in Tuscany I've been eyeing for years.
Growing and Learning: It's never too late to learn something new, right? I've signed up for a coding bootcamp. Watch out, Silicon Valley!
Building Our Empty Nester Community
This blog isn't just about my journey - it's about ours. I want to create a space where we can share our experiences, challenges, and triumphs as we navigate this new phase of life.
So, fellow empty nesters (or soon-to-be), let's embark on this adventure together! Share your stories, your fears, your exciting plans. Let's laugh, maybe cry a little, and most importantly, support each other as we redefine what it means to be "mom" in this new chapter.

Remember, we may be empty nesters, but our lives are about to become full in ways we never imagined. Here's to new beginnings! 🥂
P.S. If you need me, I'll be in the garage, turning my daughters old room into a yoga studio. Or a wine cellar. The jury's still out on that one!
